Walk to Remember
November 16 @ 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
On Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, in recognition of National Bereavement Day, we would like to invite our community to come together for a Walk to Remember – a memorial walk at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum to acknowledge community members that have been impacted by death of a loved one.
These have been challenging times for so many, and we want you to know that you’re not alone. A beautiful memorial ornament has been created featuring the dogwood flower and a local sponsor has provided funding for the printing of these on weather friendly synthetic paper so they can be personalized and hung onsite at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum, and used in interactive visual memorial displays at care homes, facilities, and other spaces throughout the community. This artwork is a small way to acknowledge grief and loss individually and as a community, and our hope is: to provide an opportunity for individuals to share and support one another; to acknowledge individual and collective losses; and to remember loved ones as we continue to move through these challenging times, as a community.
We’re inviting the community to come together, for a walk to remember on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 The community is invited to join us during the day, beginning at 10:00am, and hang a memorial ornament and walk the large path onsite with friends and family at their leisure; and/or to join us in the evening at 7:00pm, for a Candlelight Memorial Walk as we walk the path together, in memory of loved ones and in support of our community.
